It's finally here! I am SO excited!
Because the official 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die list keeps CHANGING, the rules of the 1% Well-Read Challenge have been modified for the 2009-2010 Challenge. Here are this years options:
- Read 10 titles from the original list from March 1, 2009 through December 31, 2009.
- Read 10 titles from the new list from March 1, 2009 through December 31, 2009.
- Read 13 titles from the combined list (of almost 1300 titles) from March 1, 2009 through March 31, 2010. In other words, “What were they thinking dropping titles from Dostoevsky and Jane Austen?”
I am going to read 10 titles from the new, revised list!
Yes, that's right. Excitement is rare in my life these days (not really) but books always get me going. I'm such a nerd.
In an effort to keep myself motivated, I made a special blog just for the list and any additional reading I might attempt! Woo!
I already made my list a couple of weeks ago and have been thinking about it a lot.
Anyway, here it is: My 10 books for the next 10 months from the 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die list.
- Veronika Decides To Die by Paulo Coelho
- Alias Grace by Margaret Atwood
- The Secret History by Donna Tartt
- Like Water For Chocolate by Laura Esquivel
- Empire of The Sun by J.G. Ballard
- Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick
- Doctor Zhivago by Boris Pasternak
- Casino Royale by Ian Fleming
- I, Robot by Isaac Asimov
- Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day - Winifred Watson
Actually I already read Veronika Decides To Die so I'll have to replace it on the list. I'll let you know whenever I figure it out. Now I'm going to go enjoy the snow!!
Welcome to the challenge, and thanks so much for participating!
